Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee highlands — Cranston's Bean & Mariner Coffee Co

From Highland to Harbor: The Story of Our Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Blend

Some coffees don't just wake you up — they take you somewhere.

Nestled in the highlands of southern Ethiopia, the Yirgacheffe region produces some of the most distinctive coffee in the world. At elevations above 6,000 feet, where cool mists roll through ancient forests and wild coffee trees grow alongside cultivated ones, something extraordinary happens in the bean.

What Makes Yirgacheffe Unique

Yirgacheffe coffees are celebrated for their bright, floral character — jasmine, bergamot, and lemon blossom notes that seem almost too delicate for a coffee cup. Beneath that florality lies a clean citrus brightness and a tea-like body that sets it apart from the bold, earthy profiles of other African origins.

It's a coffee that rewards slow mornings and careful brewing.

How It Found Its Way to Cranston's

When we set out to build our lineup at Cranston's Bean & Mariner, we knew we wanted coffees that told a story — origins with history, character, and soul. Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee itself, and Yirgacheffe is its crown jewel. It was a natural fit for a brand built on exploration and discovery.

How to Brew It

To honor the delicate complexity of this blend, we recommend a pour-over or Chemex method with water just off the boil (around 200°F). Use a medium-fine grind and take your time with the bloom. The result is a cup that's bright, clean, and deeply aromatic — a true port of origin in every sip.

We'd love to hear your thoughts. Have you tried our Ethiopian Yirgacheffe blend? Drop a review on the product page and tell us what notes you discovered. Your feedback helps fellow explorers chart their next cup.

Fair winds and following seas.
